European road freight is entering August with rising diesel costs, pressure on contract rates and limited capacity on selected lanes. At the same time, traffic bans in Germany and the Czech Republic, along with a revised network schedule in France, are increasing the risk of delays for weekend and groupage shipments.

Transport: Italian truck ban and works on the Brenner
European road and intermodal transport is entering a period of heightened operational risk: Italy will ban truck traffic for most of Saturday, 1 August, while rail works on the Brenner corridor continue to disrupt transport between Austria and Italy. At the same time, the Netherlands’ new road toll and the weaker condition of carriers in Belgium require updated cost calculations and more careful subcontractor selection.

Transport: night closures on DK7 and roadworks on S5 and S8
GDDKiA has reported three major disruptions affecting haulage: possible full night-time stoppages on DK7 in Gaj, lane closures on S5, and a speed limit on S8 near Zambrów. The changes affect routes through Małopolska, Wielkopolska and Podlasie, so it is advisable to secure time slots and update ETAs before departure.

Transport: A63 restricted and new tachograph fines
Wildfires in south-western France continue to restrict travel along the A63 corridor between France and Spain, while rail freight services on the Bordeaux–Bayonne–Spain route have been suspended. At the same time, inspections in Poland are already enforcing new tachograph obligations for vans, and the Netherlands has introduced 500 EUR fines for violating the ban on the A27 bridge.
