Méthodologie et sources de données

The data on this page comes from three public sources plus CargoNice's own platform data. The wholesale diesel price is the official ORLEN wholesale list price (Ekodiesel, PLN/m³ net); the per-litre value is derived from the cubic-metre price. Diesel prices for Poland, Germany and the EU average come from the European Commission's Weekly Oil Bulletin (EUR/1000 l, including taxes as published by the Commission). The EUR/PLN exchange rate is the National Bank of Poland (NBP) mid rate, table A.

Indicators are refreshed once a day on business days, early in the morning Warsaw time. Every value is shown together with the date of the price list or quotation it refers to — when a source has not yet published a new value, we show the latest available one with its date. The day-over-day change compares the current value with the previous quotation.

The CargoNice Index tracks spot rates on the Germany–Poland and Poland–Germany lanes. It is calculated as the median EUR/km rate of spot loads published via the CargoNice platform within a rolling 7-day window, counting only routes of at least 150 km. The index is published only when the sample contains at least 30 offers (n ≥ 30); below that threshold we show „n/a” instead of a number. All figures are for information purposes only and do not constitute a commercial offer.

The CargoNice Contract Index is a separate series: unlike the spot index, which is based on the offer prices of published loads, it is computed from realised rates of transports actually assigned via the platform. Per corridor (e.g. PL-DE or PL-IT) we show the median EUR/km rate over a rolling 30-day window together with the P25–P75 range and the sample size n. A corridor's values are published only when the sample is large enough — below that threshold the tile shows „n/a” while n remains truthful.

Questions fréquentes

Where does the rates data come from?

Diesel prices come from the official ORLEN wholesale price list and the European Commission's Weekly Oil Bulletin, the EUR/PLN rate from table A of the National Bank of Poland, and the DE–PL / PL–DE lane rates from the CargoNice Index, which is computed from spot loads published via our platform.

How often is the data updated?

Once a day on business days, early in the morning Warsaw time. The EU Oil Bulletin itself is published weekly, and the NBP rate on business days — each value always carries the date it refers to, so you can see exactly how fresh it is.

What is the CargoNice Index?

The CargoNice Index is the median EUR/km rate of spot loads published via the CargoNice platform on the Germany–Poland and Poland–Germany lanes, computed over a 7-day window for routes of at least 150 km. It is only published when the sample has at least 30 offers, so single outliers cannot distort it.

May I use this data?

Yes — you are welcome to quote the figures for informational purposes and in your own publications, with attribution to CargoNice and, ideally, a link to this page. The data is provided as-is, without warranty, and does not constitute commercial or investment advice.
